GENFRATIONS OF COMPUTERS   The history of computer development is referred to the different generations of computing devices. Let us learn about the various generations of computer.   First Generation (1940-1956)   The first generation computers used vacuum bes for electronic component and magnetic drums for memory, and they were very big in size.  The UNIVAC, ENIAC, EDVAC, IBM 701, etc., computers are examples of first- generaron computing devices.   Features: The size of the first generation Computers was very large . A Short History of Computers and Computing   The word computer derives from the word ‘compute’, which means ‘to calculate’, The concept of counting is as old as the existence of human beings. An early human being used to count with the help of fingers. sticks, stones, bones. etc. Bur calculations with such objects has its own limitations and these calculations used to take a long time. So, as civilization grows up, man invented many calculating devices to make counting easy and fast.
