Keyboard -
A keyboard is an important part of a compurter.It has many keys. We can
type letters, numbers and symbols with the help of these keys. In
standard keyboard, there are 104 keys.
We can divide these keys in six different categories.

1. Alphabet Keys           

2.Number Keys

3.Arrow Keys

4.Special character Keys

5.Function Keys

6.Special Keys

Alphabet keys-
Alphabet keys are 26 in
number and marked with the
letters of English alphabet.
These keys are not arranged
in sequences. we use alphabet
keys to type words, sentences
letters, etc.


Facts- Most keyboards are called QWERTY keyboards. This name comes from first six letters on the top row of the alphabet keys.

Number Keys-
Number keys are also called numeric keys. These numeric
keys are 10 in numbers, marked with 0 to 9. Number keys
are present at the two places on the keyboard:

•On the top of the alphabet keys.
•On the right end of the keyboard.

Arrow keys-
There are four arrow keys on the keyboard. These keys are also called the cursor movement keys. 

Special Characters Keys-
Special character keys have different symbols marked on them such as,
punctuation marks and other special symbols. To type symbols, you
need to press and hold shift key first.


Function Keys-
Function keys are located at the topmost row of the keyboard. These keys are used to perform special tasks .There are 12 function keys marked from F1 to F2.

Special Keys-
There are some special keys on the keyboard. They have their own functions.

Spacebar key -
Spacebar is the longest key on the keyboard. It is used to give space between characters and words. It's located on the lower edge of a keyboard.

Delete Key-
Delete key is used to delete the text or graphics on the right side of the cursor.

Backspace key-
Backspace key is used to erase the character you just typed or left to the cursor. It is a small key with back arrow marked on it.

Caps Lock key-
Caps lock key is used to type capital letters, such as A,B,C,etc. Once this key is pressed, the Caps Lock light  is switched ON. Which indicates that the Caps Lock key is active. When you press this key again, the Caps Lock light is switched OFF, which indicates that the Caps Lock key is not active.

Enter key
Enter key is used to move the cursor to the next line.
There are two enter keys on the keyboard. It is also
known as the Return key.
Shift key

There are two shift keys which are used in
combination with other keys. Some keys have special
symbols marked above them. You can type these



symbols with the help of either of these two shift keys.
